We are offering the following Programs for Children:
School Year Programs:
- Faith First-At Home is a home school optional program that is held once a week in the family home for all children grades K-6 at one time and taught by the parents/guardians. Each student is given a student textbook for their grade level and the parents are given a Family Guide to lead the weekly sessions. Students who are preparing for the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Communion will be required to attend additional workshops with a parent or guardian. Please note that this program is offered on a ‘case-by-case’ basis with the permission of the Pastor, especially if children are preparing for Sacraments.
- Traditional Classroom Sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings from 5-6:15PM from October 6, 2010-April 27, 2011.
We will be using the Program "Faith and Life" from Ignatius Press for Religious Education and First Reconciliation/First Communion Preparation. This is the only program permitted by the Diocese of Baker for Children's Religious instruction and Sacramental Preparation. This program is divided by 'levels' and if needed, each child will be assessed as to their readiness to start a new level. Students in 1st grade or students with no previous formal religious instruction will begin with level one. Students who are in grades 2-5 who are preparing for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation/First Communion will be placed in level two. Children in grades 3-5 who have received First Reconciliation/First Communion will be placed in level three. Students will be placed in combined classes. This is an all-volunteer program, so parents are expected to assist on a regular basis, as well as support their children's faith by regular Mass attendance and teaching their children their prayers.
Students in grade 6+ should refer to the Youth Ministry page for calendars and information on Sacramental Preparation or Youth Ministry for Religious instruction.
- Children’s Liturgy of the Word is offered each Sunday during the 10:30AM Mass from October –May for children age 4-grade 3. This is a free program and registration is not necessary.
