Traditional Classroom Sessions will be held Wednesday evenings from 5-6:30PM in the Religious Education Center. See calendar for dates. These sessions are for students who are age 4 by October 1, 2011 through grade 5. If your student is in Junior High (grades 6-7-8) or High School (9-12) please see the Youth Ministry Page for information and calendars.
We will be using the Program "Faith and Life" from Ignatius Press for Religious Education and First Reconciliation/First Communion Preparation. This is the only program permitted by the Diocese of Baker for Children's Religious instruction and Sacramental Preparation.
This program is divided by 'levels' and if needed, each child will be assessed as to their readiness to start a new level. Students in 1st grade or students with no previous formal religious instruction will begin with level one. Students who are in grades 2-5 who are preparing for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation/First Communion will be placed in level two. Children in grades 3-5 who have received First Reconciliation/First Communion will be placed in level three. We will offer classes this year through level four and five for students who have received Reconciliation and First Communion AND have had 3 previous years of religious instruction.
This is an all-volunteer program, so parents are expected to assist on a regular basis, as well as support their children's faith by regular Mass attendance and teaching their children their prayers.
We are also introducing a new program this year! We will provide childcare for the children of volunteer Catechists during class on Wednesdays. We will offer this service to make it easier for parents to volunteer to teach!
