Reconciliation (Confession)

what is confession?

It is through the Sacrament of Reconciliation that Christ offers sinners forgiveness for their offenses against Him. In confession, we are not simply talking to a priest and telling him our sins. Rather, we are having a real encounter with Christ and His Church, ready to absolve us of our sins and restore us to new life in a state of grace.

what is NECESSARY in order for my sins to be forgiven?

The only necessity to be forgiven is that you have what the Catechism calls an "interior penance" (CCC, 1430). In other words, you must have a truly contrite heart. This sacrament is not merely an external work, but one that is greatly internal. If we do not have a true sense of sorrow for what we have done, then the sacrament is not valid. In Acts 3:19, we see that we must first, "Repent...and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out. "

Where/when can I to confession?

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered each week on Saturdays from 2:30PM-3:30 PM in the church or by appointment.
